Hello everyone !

📢 🔴 URGENT 🔴

An awesome software is dying, because its has not time anymore to care of it.

It's an alternative of Adobe AfterEffect : Natron (

Please, can Mastodon community search for a C++ dev, which want to maintain it ? or search for a company which work with free software ? It's very important.

Boost very appreciated

Thanks in advance for your contribution !

@Xyrop yes, it would be nice if @LINAGORA could have an idea to help dev of Natron.

Crazy! I thought #Natron was already dead!

Also, it's an alternative to the Foundry's #Nuke and not really to After Effect. 🙂

I hope it will get a new developer I really could use that project!

I think we should learn from this and start to explore for a way to bring in interns and apprentices to our projects.

OH, MA GOD, I would gladly help but I don't have the time for more than basic maintenance and bug fixes. Natron must not die

@Archivist Well, more dev there are, less the dev will have to do (because every task will be share between the different dev). So if you have time, just see a bit the code ;-) If one dev come, more will come after. And don't hesitate to communicate with other dev. And indeed, Natron must not die !

@frju365 wow, that is so cool, i never knew such a thing existed. So useful.

@frju365 @dale_price seems like we should have a hashtag we use for projects in need of Devs. I have been seeing a lot of posts like this lately.

@arthurlutzim Mh... a software without maintainer... si something pressing, no ? (Perhaps bad word in english, sorry - I'm french)

@arthurlutzim Ok. Non, là je ne voulais pas dire mla même chose. C'était seulement pour dire qu'un logiciel abandonné doit être repris rapidement afin qu'il ne soit pas abandonné définitivement, ce qui serait vraiment dommage !

@frju365 Free Software doesn't "die" as long as the source code is available. It may stagnate, but not die.

Also the stagnation isn't because the one developer doesn't have time, it is because there isn't a robust developer community around the project. We should thank that one dev for the ton of work he did to bring the application to where it currently is.

@paperdigits A free software can die. And no, there is not only software code in Free Software, but also human. You are right about the community point. But a software with vulnerabilities and, which is not maintained since many year is dead as long as it stay unmaintain. I've many example if you want.
